Our Values
We are a passionate, volunteer board of directors united by the shared values of bodily autonomy, equitable access to healthcare, financial independence, and intersectional justice. We believe in a future where all Kansans have equal access to abortion care.
Our Vision
We are a volunteer board of directors who raise money and awareness in order to distribute funds directly to clinics that provide abortion care for Kansans.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide funding and a voice for all Kansans in need of abortion care.
Our Impact
In 2025, KAF supported 1,328 people in accessing abortion care. This number is staggering compared to ten years ago, when we supported 139 people seeking care.
As an abortion fund, KAF aims high at providing critical financial support, particularly benefiting low-income individuals and people of color who often have fewer resources.
We believe people should have the fundamental right to make their own decisions about their bodies, lives, and futures. Bodily autonomy has an immense impact on a person's life by changing their life's trajectory.
Our History
KAF was founded thirty years ago and has grown significantly--- especially following the fall of Roe and the August 2, 2022 VOTE NO initiative in Kansas. As a member of the National Network of Abortion Fund (NNAF), we collaborate with other member abortion funds nationwide to build a base of collective power in pursuit of accessible and equitable abortion care.
In 2019, we changed our name from the Peggy Bowman Second Chance Fund to the Kansas Abortion Fund to more accurately reflect our mission and promote understanding and support for abortion access.
We are dedicated to our mission for the long game. The road to abortion access in Kansas has been difficult, but we will stay the course.
We’ve had many devoted Board members over the years, one of whom was Peggy Bowman, a pioneer of reproductive rights in Kansas. Read about her here.
