Who We Are
In 1996, a small group of friends in Lawrence, Kansas, created a phone tree to share information and raise funds for people in their community seeking abortion care. As the need grew, so did the effort—eventually becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We continue to operate with an all-volunteer, working Board of Directors.
Today, we are a Kansas-based organization and a proud member of the National Network of Abortion Funds. In 2019, we changed our name from the Peggy Bowman Second Chance Fund to the Kansas Abortion Fund to better reflect our mission and make it easier for people to find us.
Whom We Serve
The Kansas Abortion Fund provides financial support to Kansans who face financial barriers to accessing abortion care, whether services are sought in-state or out-of-state.
There are no financial eligibility requirements; however, funding is limited to Kansas residents.
What We Do
We support Kansans seeking abortion care. By working directly with clinics across the country, we ensure our funding process is efficient and streamlined. Our work is grounded in the belief that people have a right to make their own healthcare decisions, free from government interference.

We have an efficient and streamlined process, serving residents of Kansas. You will contact a clinic directly to make your arrangements. We work directly with clinics providing safe and legal abortion, wherever you choose to go in the United States. We respect your right to privacy and to make your own healthcare decisions. We have never turned down a person in need.
